What Are Georgia Officials Doing With Little Richard's Childhood Home?

MACON, Ga. — Officials in Georgia have decided to move the boyhood home of Little Richard to spare it from a highway construction project.

Macon Mayor Robert Reichert made the announcement Friday. WMAZ-TV reports () that the 80-year-old singer is receiving an honorary degree on Saturday from Mercer University. http://on.wmaz.com/YB9JwR

Born Richard Wayne Penniman, Little Richard grew up in Macon's Pleasant Hill community. That's a neighborhood that was later divided by the construction of Interstate 75.

The "Tutti Frutti" singer's boyhood home faced possible demolition to make room for a planned expansion of the interchange where I-75 meets Interstate 16 to Savannah.

City officials said the home will be relocated to a lot near the Pleasant Hill community garden. At its new location, the house will be used as a neighborhood resource center.

And The Recasting Begins ...

NEW YORK — NBC is ordering up a new comedy for next season from "Scrubs" creator Bill Lawrence and an updating of the `70s cop drama "Ironside."

And in a surprise move, the network is bringing back "Community" for a fifth season. This quirky college comedy has struggled in the ratings but enjoys a devoted cult following.

The revived "Ironside" will star Blair Underwood as the paralyzed lawman who uses a wheelchair. That memorable character was originally played by Raymond Burr.

Another new drama, "Chicago PD," is from producer Dick Wolf ("Law & Order"). It will serve as a companion piece to "Chicago Fire," which premiered this season.

The Lawrence-produced comedy, "Undateable," stars Chris D'Elia (from the just-canceled NBC sitcom "Whitney") as a ladies' man who wants to help a circle of friends who are not so successful with romance.

Other new series include "Welcome to the Family," a comedy starring Mike O'Malley and Mary McCormack; "The Blacklist," an action drama starring James Spader as the world's most wanted criminal; and "Night Shift," a medical drama.

NBC also announced Friday that it has axed its news magazine "Rock Center with Brian Williams," as well as "Go On," a rookie comedy starring Matthew Perry that had a promising start before its ratings collapsed, and its fellow freshman comedy "The New Normal."

On Thursday, the network said it is canceling other rookie comedies "Up All Night," "Guys with Kids" and "1600 Penn."

NBC had also announced five new series including a drama, "Believe," from producer J.J. Abrams, and a comedy adaptation of the Nick Hornby novel, "About a Boy."

Gillian Anderson, onetime star of "The X-Files," will be back in "Crisis," a drama about a bus full of high school students who are kidnapped.

Sean Hayes, the former "Will & Grace" actor, will star as a gay divorced dad in "Sean Saves the World."

But yet another new fall comedy has already lost its leading lady. Parker Posey has left "The Family Guide," according to a person close to the project who wasn't authorized to discuss it publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity. Posey had starred as a divorced mom with an 11-year-old son who idolizes his blind father.

NBC's entire fall schedule will be unveiled Sunday.

Lindsay Lohan Reportedly 'Hell-Bent' On Leaving Rehab

Sounds like Lindsay Lohan is ready to say "bye, bye" to the Betty Ford Center.

According to TMZ, the 26-year-old is "hell-bent on making her escape" after the facility cut off her supply of Adderall, saying that she doesn't need the drug. Despite Lohan's claims that she takes the pills for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, doctors at Betty Ford reportedly evaluated her and believe that there are plenty of substitute medications for ADHD that are less addictive than Adderall.

Betty Ford also reportedly does not prescribe the drug to people over the age of 15, as it is known to be misused as a weight loss substance.

TMZ reports that Lohan is allegedly telling friends that she wants to be moved to another facility that will allow her to take her daily dose of Adderall.

In an interview with Piers Morgan last month, Lohan said, “I have severe ADD. I can’t stand still. So I take Adderall for that, it calms me. I know people who take it to stay up, or girls who take it to supposedly stay slim because it kills your appetite. But I eat all the time. I just take it to stay calm. It works well for me.”

But despite Lohan's claims that she doesn't use Adderall to maintain her slim frame, RadarOnline.com is reporting that she's now worried she'll gain weight since she's no longer taking the drug.

“Lindsay has been able to eat whatever she has wanted and not gain weight for years and she attributes this to Adderall," a source close to the actress told RadarOnline.com. “Everyone knows that the controversial drug ramps up your metabolism, and can suppress the appetite."

Shakira Gets REALLY Candid About Giving Birth

Shakira is celebrating her first Mother's Day this weekend, but she admits becoming a mom wasn't easy.

"The Voice" mentor stopped by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on May 10 and revealed that giving birth to her son Milan was NOT what she expected.

"Well, you know delivering a baby is not as idyllic as people make it seem," Shakira, 36, said. "Don't expect that he is going to be rosy cheeks, cherub when he is born."

"Actually when I saw mine, I was like, oh my God. He is purple and wrinkled. What is this?" she joked.

Shakira welcomed Milan, her first child with her soccer star boyfriend Gerard Pique, in January and has been open about losing the pregnancy pounds. She told DeGeneres that she still questions whether she'll ever be "sexy" again.

"At first it's hard to deal with a lot of the things that you have to deal with. Looking at your new image in the mirror. I looked like a Shar-Pei when I first delivered," the "Hips Don't Lie" singer quipped, adding, "I was like, 'Oh my God. Am I ever going to be sexy again? Is my man ever going to feel attracted to me again the way he used to be?,' you know. All of these things you deal with."

But let's be honest -- Shakira looks better than ever and has been winning over audiences around the world as she laughs with co-judges Blake Shelton, Usher and Adam Levine on "The Voice."

"It was fun because people tend to treat you really nicely when you're pregnant, so the boys were actually more gentle with me," she said of working on "The Voice" while expecting, continuing, "Now they have no mercy!"

Chris Brown Pisses Off Neighbors

LOS ANGELES — Grammy-winning musician Chris Brown's neighbors are unhappy with the creepy art he's chosen to have painted along the curb of his Hollywood Hills home.

A neighborhood group said the grimacing, sharp-toothed, red-eyed goblins painted along a retaining wall have been scaring local children, and is an eyesore to boot, the Los Angeles Times reported ( ). http://lat.ms/19cjOBY

"There are lots of babies, lots of children, and they're literally frightened. It's like devils on the wall – big scary eyes and big scary teeth, and just the whole vibe is not what we're used to," Patti Negri, president of the Hollywood Dell Civic Association, told the newspaper.

L.A. city code officials responded to complaints about the monster art and cited the "Run It!" singer $376 for unpermitted and excessive signage.

Under city ordinances, it's illegal to create murals on most private properties. Though that didn't stop Madonna from painting her Hollywood Hills home in red and yellow stripes in the 1990s.

Brown has been ordered to remove the goblin paintings within 30 days, but his attorney Mark Geragos said the musician is not backing down.

"They are trying to suspend the First Amendment," Geragos said.

Geragos alleges neighbors are harassing Brown, and have also made parking complaints about him and called animal control.

Brown's tumultuous relationship with singer Rihanna and foul-mouthed Twitter presence have given him a bad boy reputation.

Brown won a Grammy in 2011 for Best R&B Album with "F.A.M.E." and was arrested shortly after the 2009 awards ceremony for assaulting Rihanna.

"I know a $300 fine is probably pocket change. But hopefully and maybe, he'll just see the light and decide to be a good neighbor," Negri told the Times. "We're happy to have him – if he just tones it down."

Robin Roberts' Mother's Day Message

Robin Roberts sent a Mother's Day message on Sunday to her mom that she lost about nine months ago.

Last year, Roberts' was diagnosed with MDS, a rare blood and bone marrow disorder. She announced that she would take medical leave and undergo treatment for MDS, which included receiving a bone marrow transplant from her sister, Sally Ann. Days before the transplant, Roberts' mother, Lucimarian Roberts died at the age of 88.

Roberts posted a message to her mom on her Facebook wall. Roberts and her mother wrote a book together, which came out about one year ago. The "Good Morning America" host posted a photograph of her and her mother at their book party.

Dear Mom,

I miss you every day. Especially today as we celebrate our moms, and mother figures in our lives.

This is my first Mother's Day without you. It hurts so much. But I remember something you said after daddy died: "You have a choice. You can have sad sorrow or happy sorrow". I'm going to follow your advice and choose the latter.

I'm not sure if you ever saw this picture. It was taken last Spring before your book party that the wonderful people at Upper Room hosted. Family and friends traveled near and far to honor you. I vividly recall you beaming as your daughter, Dorothy, beautifully sang the title of your book. This is MY STORY, this is MY SONG. Cousin Steven flawlessly accompanied Dorothy on the piano. Happy sorrow.

Momma, Happy Mother's Day to you and all the moms in heaven, as you smile down on your children today and every day.

Forever your baby girl,

Robin

Roberts returned to "Good Morning America" earlier this year and resumed her role as co-host alongside George Stephanopoulos.

Reese Witherspoon Rocks White Short Shorts

Reese Witherspoon is back to her blonde roots.

The actress who recently went brunette for her role in "The Good Lie," showed off her newly-dyed blond hair at her son Deacon's football game in Brentwood yesterday (May 11).

Witherspoon -- looking happier than ever -- rocked a pair of white short shorts as she cheered on Deacon from the sidelines with her husband, Jim Toth.

The 37-year-old and Toth made headlines last month after being jailed following a DUI-related incident in Atlanta. Witherspoon, who has always been portrayed as America's Sweetheart, apologized following her arrest, saying, "I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. The words I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I'm very sorry for my behavior."

In a video from the arrest, Witherspoon can be heard asking a cop, "Do you know my name?" before telling him, "You're about to find out who I am" and "You're about to be on national news."

We're happy she's a blonde again ... her brown-haired alter ego needed to go.

PHOTOS: Is Kate Middleton Done Buying Maternity Dresses?

Ladies and gentlemen, we've got jaw-droppers aplenty in your daily Kate Middleton digest. While her brother-in-law Harry is singing up a storm stateside, Duchess Kate is making headlines for her intriguing outfit choices... and for speculation around her impending due date.

Kate attended a wedding on Saturday in a Topshop dress you might recognize. That's right -- Kate came out in the very same outfit she wore two and a half weeks ago to a Warner Bros. Studios tour. That's certainly one way to avoid upstaging the bride, but we're not sure that fast fashion is formal enough for such a celebration.

Perhaps Kate has reined in the maternity shopping because she's even more aware that this pregnancy isn't forever. In fact, the Daily Mail now reports a specific end date for her pregnancy: July 13. According to a statement from their (dubious?) sources:

Some of Kate and William’s closest pals were at a barbecue hosted by a family friend of the Royals recently. They were all discussing the fact that Kate’s baby is due to be born on July 13. Everyone was very excited.

It's worth noting that a palace spokesman gave a contradictory statement to the Herald Sun: "We have only said that the Duchess is due in July. Anything further would be speculation."

Well, whenever Kate's ready to give birth, we'll be cheering her all the way through delivery. Do you think she has any new maternity outfits left, or will we be seeing her in repeats for the rest of the trimester?

On Saturday, in Ewelme, Oxfordshire:

Late last month, at the Warner Bros. Studio:

Not too shabby, old sport. Baz Luhrmann's "Great Gatsby" opened to an impressive $51.1 million weekend. The adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's celebrated novel performed strongly at the box office, bringing an estimated $19.37 million on its opening day.

"The Great Gatsby," which stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, has received mixed reviews from critics and a CinemaScore of B from moviegoers. The film also features Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, and Carey Mulligan, among others.

"Gatsby" was edged out for the top box office spot by "Iron Man 3," which won the weekend. The latest in the "Iron Man" franchise made $72.47 million at 4,253 theaters. Starring Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle, "Iron Man 3" has reached a total domestic gross of $284.89 million since its release. The action film had a record-breaking opening weekend, making $175 million. This total gave "Iron Man 3" the second-biggest opening after "The Avengers."

"Iron Man" and "Gatsby" hugely overshadowed the rest of the films at the box office this weekend. Mark Wahlberg's "Pain & Gain" took the number three spot, making $5 million at 3,303 theaters. The Michael Bay-led film has grossed $41.6 million. Rounding out the top five for the weekend was Tyler Perry's "Peeples" and "42," taking the number four and five spots, respectively. "Peeples" opened to $4.85 million at 2,041 theaters, making a dent in its estimated $15 million budget. Jackie Robinson biopic "42" made $4.6 million at 2,930 theaters, bringing its total domestic gross to $84.73 million.

Diane Lane: On Mother's Day, Let's Invest in Women

When I first arrived in Somaliland in April 2011, I became immediately aware of the societal norms and cultural value system that was distinctly based on gender. I saw how the male perspective was the only one that mattered regarding human sexuality, while women's reproductive rights were non-existent. Women in Somaliland have no voice -- their bodies are culturally controlled long before puberty and their very worth is male-dictated. Their maternal health is a matter of chance and luck yet an abundance of children is inherently expected and valued above their well-being and often their survival.

Despite the immense adversity of circumstances I witnessed, I was inspired by the great work I saw Edna Adan doing in her native country. Edna became a personal hero of mine -- even just from reading the chapter about her in the book Half The Sky. She exemplifies what it means to be a true "nurse," as well as an ambassador of her nation's women. Edna is a genuine inspiration who has earned every bit of respect and esteem through her determined efforts in a wildly patriarchal society.

At the tender age of seven, Edna personally suffered the shock, harm and regret of FGM (Female Genital Mutilation). But she has found the courage to champion wiser methods which accommodate Somaliland customs, while progressing away from the countless fistulas and many other miseries women, children and entire families suffer unnecessarily in reproduction. She has trained young women from all over her country to be professional midwives in order to service the hard-to-reach majority of Somaliland's people. Also, Edna brings people together from all over the world to finance or donate emergency help for those who otherwise have no hope of proper medical attention and care.

Because of Edna, I clearly see the interconnectedness between access to education and opportunity for women and preventing maternal mortality. When a mother dies, all her children are orphaned and the entire community is left to endure the burden of her void -- emotionally, physically and spiritually.

These issues need not be overwhelming. There are so many ways to empower women: via education, the right to vote and the right to participate in sustainable local commerce to name a few. Opportunities like this aid women in so many ways, contributing to their families, exponentially elevating their communities, and increasing a woman's worthiness of preventative healthcare.

Since coming back to the U.S., I've realized that needless suffering and death can be avoided if women are invested in and valued culturally for more than just their reproductive capacity. I realized that I myself am guilty of taking my human rights and the control I have over my own body for granted. This journey galvanized my belief in the need for equality in women's representation in governmental policy around the world; as a human rights issue.

I am so grateful to Edna Adan for my experiences in Somaliland. Although I saw the deprivation of poverty, I witnessed how beautifully the human spirit can persevere even in unforgiving drought. Thanks to Ms. Adan I grew in my understanding and compassion for cultures quite different from my own. My visit with the kind people of Somaliland encouraged me to lend my voice to the life-and-death issues that are often ignored, or worse tolerated, in spite of being shockingly preventable.

Edna gives me hope through her "power of example." She once told me the fable of the tortoise who, without "sticking his neck out, gets nowhere." And just like her native desert survivor, the Tortoise, Edna Adan is a marvel of accomplishment on behalf of her people.

This Mother's Day, please support her work so that her legacy continues to flourish through her many students and grateful patients -- whether via midwifery, medicine or her womanly wisdom.

Is Disney's New Tonto Offensive?

$
0
0

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The Hollywood image of Tonto once had the Lone Ranger's sidekick wearing a thin headband and lots of dangling fringes. The latest Disney version has a shirtless Johnny Depp adorned with feathers, a face painted white with black stripes, and a stuffed crow on his head.

The character in the upcoming "The Lone Ranger" still speaks broken English and chants prayers. But Depp has said he's less subservient, honors the proud American Indian warrior and displays a dry sense of humor seen throughout Indian Country. The production even hired a Comanche adviser, making it decidedly a Comanche story, and received the blessing of other tribes through ceremonies during filming.

Yet Disney has caught flak for what some say is the perpetuation of stereotypes through a character that lacks any real cultural traits. Moviegoers will have to wait until July 3 to see how all this plays out on screen. For now, they're getting a glimpse through movie trailers that have left them both optimistic and angry, and wondering to what extent the new Tonto portrays actual American Indians.

What has most people scratching their heads is the black crow that appears to hover over Depp's head, and the black stripes that run vertically down his painted face. The inspiration came from a painting by artist Kirby Sattler, who said his work isn't specific to one tribe but is modeled after nomadic Plains tribes of the 19th century.

Depp took the image to the film's Comanche adviser, William "Two-Raven" Voelker, to ask if it was far-fetched. His answer: It's not.

"There are a lot of people out there screaming who are not Comanche, as in this story Tonto is supposed to be," Voelker said. "They know nothing of bird culture. When we wear or use those feathers, we're calling on the energy of the entire bird."

Depp's elaborate costumes – as seen in "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Edward Scissorhands" – are nothing new. Voelker said he never would have agreed to be a consultant on the movie had he not been assured the production team would be sensitive to American Indian culture and committed to at least some historical accuracy.

The teepees used in the movies, for example, have four poles to reflect the way the Comanche built them, not three more commonly seen in movies and that trace back to Cheyenne and Sioux tribes. The production also visited Oklahoma to hear the Comanche language being spoken and worked with Voelker and others to give Depp Comanche lines in the movie.

The story of westward expansion as told from Tonto's perspective isn't entirely accurate historically. Some of the scenes are filmed in Monument Valley on the Navajo Nation, with trains curving around the spires that Navajos believe are petrified deities, and Depp and co-star Armie Hammer looking out beyond the cliffs. Voelker had sought out the sweeping expanses of the southern Plains, home to the Comanche Nation.

Hanay Geiogamah, a member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma who advised Disney on "Pocahontas," said Depp's Tonto comes off as a mystical, radical modernization of the character played by Jay Silverheels in the 1950s, which is by far the most recognizable.

"You can say, `well, American Indians are going to like this one more,'" Geiogamah said. "Are they going to respond more positively to the Johnny Depp Tonto? You're still responding to a non-Indian, stereotypical image."

Eileen Maxwell, a spokeswoman for the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian, said Depp has a tall order to fill if he wants to turn Tonto into a more positive image.

"All of its past iterations have not been good for Native Americans," she said. "They've been stereotypical, one-dimension and not true depictions of the westward expansion, which was devastating to Native America."

Ernest Tsosie of the Navajo comedy duo, James and Ernie, is looking forward to seeing the movie.

One scene has Tonto and the Lone Ranger atop a train, being held at gunpoint by an outlaw who asked if they're going somewhere. The Lone Ranger says no; Tonto insists they are. His straight-face turns to a smirk as the two are picked off the train by a hook that catches the chains that tie them together.

"It's a real quick moment where I caught it and I kind of chuckled," Tsosie said. "From what I saw, there's some moments in there that are meant to be funny but not outwardly funny. I think most Natives will pick up on it."

Tsosie said other tribes have teased the Comanche for making Depp an honorary member but doesn't believe Depp is ignorant of American Indian culture. Depp was inquisitive about the Navajo language during filming, and the tribal president gave him a Pendleton blanket. T-shirts that Depp has worn have pictures of American Indian warriors in the 1492 version of homeland security and with the letters "AIM" for American Indian Movement, Tsosie said. "I think he knows what's up."

Disney's remake of the "Lone Ranger" has Tonto in the role of coach to John Reid, the idealistic law school graduate played by Hammer, who finds himself out of his depth when he returns to his hometown and eventually becomes the Lone Ranger.

Michelle Shining Elk, a member of the Colville Tribes of the Pacific Northwest who works in the film industry, said the latest depiction will give the wrong perception of American Indians, "that we are uneducated, irrelevant, non-contributors to society living in teepees out on the Plains." She expected Depp to deliver his lines in a more realistic and modern manner, "not like a caricature from a John Wayne movie, or 1920s cartoon," she said.

But as John Wayne was a Hollywood creation, so is Tonto largely.

"I just hope that the other rabble-rousers out there can just sit back and take this in as a piece of entertainment," Voelker said. "It's not ever supposed to be an end-all to our Comanche culture. If they have problems, they can come to us, and I take that responsibility."

After months of speculation, Seth Meyers is officially taking over "Late Night" on NBC.

"We think Seth is one of the brightest, most insightful comedy writers and performers of his generation. His years at SNL's 'Weekend Update' desk, not to mention being head writer of the show for many seasons, helped him hone a topical brand of comedy that is perfect for the 'Late Night' franchise," NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt said in a statement on Sunday.

"On behalf of Steve Burke, Ted Harbert and Paul Telegdy, we couldn't be happier that Seth and Jimmy Fallon will be continuing their careers at NBC after growing up in this network's late night legacy."

In March, a source reportedly told Page Six that, "Lorne Michaels wants Seth to take over from Fallon. It would be perfect for him. Tina Fey’s name had also come up, but she has said she was too busy to do it.

No premiere date has been set for "Late Night with Seth Meyers," but Lorne Michaels will serve as executive producer and Michael Shoemaker will act as producer.

LOS ANGELES -- A look at key moments this past week in the wrongful death trial in Los Angeles between Michael Jackson's mother, Katherine Jackson, and concert giant AEG Live, and what is expected at court in the week ahead:

THE CASE

Jackson's mother wants a jury to determine that the promoter of Jackson's planned comeback concerts didn't properly investigate Dr. Conrad Murray, who a criminal jury convicted of involuntary manslaughter for Jackson's June 2009 death. AEG's attorney says the case is about personal choice, namely Jackson's decision to have Murray serve as his doctor and give him doses of a powerful anesthetic as a sleep aid. Millions, possibly billions, of dollars are at stake.

WHAT HAPPENED

_ Jurors heard about Jackson in life and death from a pair of women who knew him and from coroner's officials who pieced together how he died. Jackson's mother skipped morbid testimony about Jackson's autopsy, but listened as her son's friend and makeup artist told jurors about watching him perform, and gradually become more dependent on prescription drugs.

_ Jackson's longtime makeup artist Karen Faye testified that she overheard AEG co-CEO Paul Gongaware tell the singer's assistant to do "whatever it takes" to get the superstar out of a locked bathroom and to a rehearsal. Faye said Gongaware and another AEG official pushed Jackson to perform despite his emaciated appearance and signs of paranoia.

WHAT THE JURY SAW

_ A black-and-white photo of Jackson's lifeless body lying on a table before his autopsy. The image was shown in open court for less than a minute.

_ Faye repeatedly break down in tears as she described how Jackson trusted his doctors but became more dependent on prescription medications in the early 1990s when he was on his "Dangerous" tour and facing his first bout of child molestation allegations.

QUOTABLE MOMENTS

_ "Michael would do five songs to the dancers' one. I never saw anything like it." (Makeup artist and hair stylist Karen Faye, describing Jackson's stamina and ability to put all pain aside while he was performing.)

_ "When I hugged him, he just felt like marble. But when I hugged, when I saw him briefly in 2006, he didn't feel like that anymore. He felt thin." (Dancer and choreographer Alif Sankey, who contrasted Jackson's appearance and build when she met him while shooting the "Smooth Criminal" video with the final years of his life.)

OUTSIDE THE COURTROOM

_ Wade Robson, a choreographer who testified in Jackson's defense at his child molestation

trial, filed court paperwork stating that he was abused by Jackson over a seven-year period, according to his attorney. He has not stated how much he is seeking from Jackson's estate.

_ A 20-minute preview of the Cirque du Soleil show "Immortal" based on Jackson's career and music was previewed at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay hotel-casino. The show is scheduled to open June 29.

WHAT'S NEXT

_ Jurors will hear from AEG Live's first witnesses, a pair of choreographers who worked with Jackson and who will be called out of order to accommodate their touring schedule.

_ Deputy Medical Examiner Christopher Rogers is expected to resume testifying and may offer an estimate of how long Jackson would have lived if he hadn't received an overdose of the anesthetic propofol.

After a few days of tension surrounding the salaries of the "Real Housewives Of New York" ladies, it appears that the show will go on.

According to Deadline, the stars of the Bravo series have given up their campaign for higher pay. The site is reporting that Ramona Singer, Carole Radziwill, LuAnn de Lesseps, Heather Thomson, Sonja Morgan and Aviva Drescher have all signed contracts accepting Bravo's "modest pay increase."

Carole tweeted about the salary negotiations on Friday after Bravo threatened to cancel the series.

"Producers would not have accepted one girl without the other. It is an ensemble cast. They told the girls if both Carole and Heather don’t sign together, the show won’t move forward,” a source reportedly told The New York Post.

Regina King flaunted her incredible bikini body while vacationing at the Villa del Palmar Resort & Spa in Cancun, Mexico this week. X17Online.com has the photos of the "Southland" star relaxing poolside, sipping on a cocktail as she went for a dip.

King, who recently ended things with her boyfriend of two years Malcolm-Jamal Warner, spent the last few days enjoying the sun and sand with some girlfriends -- who no doubt helped her forget about the heartbreaking split.

"They are having an incredible time," a source tells Us Weekly of King and her friends. "They've been laughing, relaxing on the beach and enjoying lots of time at the spa."

And the vacation comes at the perfect time -- after five seasons, TNT canceled King's cop drama "Southland" on May 10.
