These 12 Space-Based Music Videos Are Out Of This World

At the American Music Awards last Sunday, Miley Cyrus performed in front of a computer-generated kitten that lip-synced in outer space.

But while Ms. Cyrus' AMAs space-based screensaver visuals -- a subtle nod, perhaps, to her recent extraterrestrial video romp with Future seen in the photo above -- was a shout-out to the Internet, it also reflected the music industry's long-running claim that space is, indeed, the place.

In fact, earlier this month Lady Gaga even booked the world's first concert in outer space, set for 2015, while Bieber announced in June he'd be bringing his downward spiral into space aboard Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic.

So we aimed our rocket ship for planet YouTube where were discovered 12 music videos -- by artists ranging from Britney and Backstreet Boys to Diplo and The Darkness to Katy and Kanye -- proving just how space-obsessed musicians really are. (Oh, and thanks to Chris Hadfield, one case of how music-obsessed astronauts really are.)

Gwyneth Paltrow Slams Haters, Admits She Doesn't 'Give A S--t'

For some reason, Gwyneth Paltrow gets a lot of flak for being, well, Gwyneth Paltrow.

But the actress is standing up for herself in a new interview, admitting that she doesn't care what people have to say about her.

"This is the thing, it's like the older I get, I realize it doesn't matter what people who don't know you think. It doesn't matter. You're wasting your energy," Paltrow, 41, tells the British magazine Red. "It's like, if your partner comes to you -- or your best friend -- and says, 'Listen, I want to talk about something you did that hurt me, or I think you could improve,' sit down and listen to what they have to say. But some friend of so-and-sos -- it's like, who gives a s--t?"

Paltrow's famous mother Blythe Danner also chimed in on her daughter's haters, saying the criticism "doesn't faze her."

"I admire her so much. It doesn't faze her. I think it probably did initially," Danner tells Naughty But Nice Rob. "She said, ‘Mom, I'm going to get this all my life. This is how they see me.'"

"I feel she's just extraordinarily accomplished in every area and people don't like that, some people don't like that," Danner adds. "I mean I don't read any of it, I just find it so disgusting. There is a coarsening of our culture today that is just so tragic."

'The Wolf Of Wall Street' Is 179 Minutes, Actually (But Not NC-17)

It's not the most crucial part of the story, but noteworthy nonetheless: Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf Of Wall Street" is now apparently 179 minutes long, an increase of 14 minutes from the previously reported running time of 165 minutes, but still one minute less than the initially rumored 180-minute length. That makes "The Wolf Of Wall Street" the longest film of Scorsese's career, topping 1995's "Casino" by one minute. (The 179-minute figure includes credits, according to The Hollywood Reporter.)

Also worth mentioning: Scorsese's film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a corrupt '90s finance guy and features supporting turns from Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, Kyle Chandler and Margot Robbie, flirted with an NC-17 rating because of what THR calls "abundant, explicit sex." The graphic nature of "The Wolf Of Wall Street," however, was far from secretive. All the way back in April of this year, HitFix In Contention editor Kris Tapley tweeted similar information:

Based on the memoir by Jordan Belfort, "The Wolf Of Wall Street" is expected to become a factor in this year's awards race. Paramount has scheduled the first official screening for Scorsese's film for Dec. 1 in Los Angeles, but some people, including director Darren Aronofsky, have been lucky enough to see it already:

"The Wolf Of Wall Street" is out on Christmas Day.

Ang Lee Plans To Make Movie In Philippines

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee, who plans to make a movie in the Philippines, said Thursday that independent Asian filmmakers have a better chance these days of finding audiences around the world.

The Taiwan-born director of "Brokeback Mountain" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" is in the country as a guest of Taiwan's de facto embassy, which honored him with a special screening of "Life of Pi." Lee told a forum with filmmakers and media that he was inspired by how the world received the movie. He said 85 percent of the film's income came from outside of America, which used to be the market leader. The movie took four years to make, cost around $130 million and earned Lee his second Academy Award for best director.

"I think that's good news for all of us," he said. "You have a chance to make it and find your audience."

He said for Asian filmmakers who want to make mainstream movies with broad appeal, "nobody makes movies like Americans." But he urged them to learn the film language of Hollywood, how to deal with it and not be a slave to it.

Lee is visiting the Philippines for the first time. He said he plans to make a movie in Manila, but did not elaborate.

"I hope to get to explore filmmaking further into unknown territory, and one of them certainly is here in Manila," he added.

Paris Hilton: professional socialite, sort-of singer, sex-tape star and now...DJ?

The international party girl, perhaps best known for her "that's hot" catchphrase, is coming to Calgary to take a turn on the decks at the notorious Cowboys Dance Hall.

She'll take the stage January 3, 2014, as part of the nightclub's 18th annual "Iced" event.

Hilton was supposed to make an appearance in Cowboys back in 2009 as part of a Calgary Stampede concert, but the show was cancelled after she ran into a scheduling conflict while shooting her reality TV show, Paris Hilton’s Dubai BFF.

Tickets for the show go on sale Friday at 9 a.m.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jane Kean, best known as Ed Norton's beleaguered wife Trixie on a TV revival of "The Honeymooners," has died. She was 90.

Kean, of Toluca Lake, died Tuesday at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank where she was taken after complications from a fall. Her niece, Deirdre Wolpert, confirmed the death Thursday.

Kean began a decades-long career of music and comedy at 16, when she appeared in her first Broadway show and worked for years in musical theater.

But she is best known for playing Trixie the 1966 TV revival of Jackie Gleason's hit show.

Kean was born in Hartford, Conn., on April 10, 1923.

In addition to Wolpert, she is survived by a stepson, Joseph Hecht Jr., his family and Wolpert's husband and two children.

If you needed any more reassurance that's it's OK to spend this holiday weekend in an oversized sweater, leggings and UGG boots, look no further than one of our nation's biggest swimsuit models, Brooklyn Decker.

The Sports Illustrated vet (and seriously funny tweeter) posted this photo on Wednesday night:

Indeed, Brooklyn. The best part is her apparent lack of makeup (and she still looks gorgeous, of course). What further proof do we need that going casual, covered-up and makeup-free is the best way to spend the Thanksgiving holiday (or any day, really)?

And we'll forgive the shoe choice, Brooklyn.

Stephen Moyer On The Final Season Of 'True Blood' & Why A Bill-Eric Sex Scene Probably Won't Happen

The sun is about to set on Bon Temps, and Stephen Moyer isn't ready to say goodbye.

The actor, famous for playing good-gone-bad-gone-good-again Bill Compton, sat down with The Huffington Post to talk about his role on NBC's "The Sound of Music," but also opened up about the final season of "True Blood." He's directing the first episode, but insists he has no idea what's in store. And though he's been rooting for a Bill-Eric sex scene, here's why we probably won't get to see that anytime soon.

How do you feel going into the final season?
I don't know anything and I’m directing the first episode. I haven't gotten a script yet and we start shooting in January. I’m really excited, really sad. It’s just a group of people that I absolutely love and it’s certainly the happiest and warmest set I’ve ever been on, so that’s going to be hard to walk away from.

Did you always know that Bill was going to be a good guy in the end?
No, but I thought it was great for the show. I’m a really strong believer in doing what’s best for the show and if that means being a sh-t then that’s fine.

What do you think about the possibility of a Sookie-Bill reconciliation?
I don’t know whether it’s possible given everything that’s happened. The first mistakes he made at the beginning of the relationship were definitely mistakes that were trying to protect her. It’s not anything he was doing that was necessarily bad. He was sent there, but he kept that from her purely because he didn’t want to hurt her and he didn’t know he was going to fall in love with this girl. I think that he will always be and always was a key for Sookie to unlocking her womanhood and who she became and who she is and who she was. She won’t forget that part of him. Whether there’s any possibility of anything else, I don't know.

What about Eric? Do you think we’ll see him in the next season?
I don't know. If I told you that I don’t know you probably wouldn’t believe me, but I don’t.

Do you have your own twisted fantasy about what you hope to happen?
Alex (Skarsgard) and I have been pushing for an Eric-Bill love scene for a long time, but they always said no. But our dream would be for my football team, West Ham United, to play his Swedish team, and would end up in some match-up that Bill and Eric happen to be able to get to.

That would be pretty great, but I don’t think Sookie would be to happy about that.
I’m sure Sookie would find a way to be part of the action. She usually does.

Victoria Beckham Guest-Edits Vogue Paris, Wisely Puts Her Husband On The Cover (PHOTOS)

Having proven herself as a top-notch fashion designer as well as an engaging Twitter personality (yeah, we couldn't believe it either), Victoria Beckham has been given the honor of guest editing the December/January issue of Vogue Paris.

The job, one she carried out for the September 2012 issue of Glamour, entails overseeing plenty of the fashion spreads and articles in the issue, meaning you can expect lots of vintage Posh Spice photos and a revealing, personal article about Victoria's marriage and family.

But the most important move Vic made as guest-editor was to put her hubby on the cover. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin photographed the famous couple looking... well, drop-dead gorgeous. And in love. With David's swooping hair and perfect day-old stubble, plus Victoria's come-hither eyes, it's a super swoon-worthy shoot that has us a little overcome.

Excuse us while we go stare at these photos a little while longer.

Gender Inequality In Film By The Numbers (INFOGRAPHIC)

$

Can Angelina Jolie hang with Hollywood's leading men, like Robert Downey Jr. and Denzel Washington? Just barely.

The war against gender inequality in film rages on with the New York Film Academy's latest findings. The school compiled data regarding the depiction of women in the top 500 movies from 2007 to 2012. The results are, unfortunately, in line with the continued rumblings emerging from the industry as of late, in which Sweden has mandated the Bechdel test and a USC study found that 70 percent of the speaking roles in 2012's 100 highest-grossing movies belonged to men.

The NYFA describes its study thusly: "In light of the record-breaking opening of the female-led action film 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' this past weekend, the New York Film Academy decided to take a closer look at women in film and what, if any, advancements women are making. After reviewing the data, it is clear that Hollywood remains stuck in its gender bias. Of course, it’s not all disparaging news and there are a number of female filmmakers, characters, and emerging talent challenging the status quo. In addition, in the independent sphere, women made up roughly half of the directors at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, yet still struggle when it comes to films receiving a wide release. By shedding light on gender inequality in film, we hope to start a discussion about what can be done to increase women’s exposure and power in big-budget films."

Take a look at the infographic compiled by the NYFA below.

David Mamet: Obama Is A 'Tyrant'

$

Oscar-nominated filmmaker and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Mamet has spent the past several years separating himself from Hollywood liberalism. In 2008, he penned a Village Voice essay titled "Why I Am No Longer a Brain-Dead Liberal." Earlier this year, he voiced his anti-gun control sentiments in a Newsweek piece. Now, Mamet has slammed President Barack Obama with a rather harsh label.

"He's a tyrant," Mamet said during an appearance on "The Hugh Hewitt Show." "And I give him great credit. He's always said that his idea was to reform the United States. And, you know, like many tyrants, like Wilson and like Franklin Delano Roosevelt, he believes that his way is the right way and that he's going to implement his vision of the world, and many agree with him. And he's acting in concert with his conscience. And I applaud him for that. I just disagree with everything he's done."

Mamet's sentiments are, of course, in good company, even among the liberal-heavy entertainment industry. Matt Damon ("Imagine if they had a leader"), James Woods ("This president is a true abomination") and director Oliver Stone ("Obama is a snake") are among the celebrities who've spoken out against Obama in recent months.

Just a few weeks ago, Mamet lambasted what he sees as the Obama administration's overreaching arm, telling The Daily Beast that the current government bears a resemblance to Lenin and Marx.

"Don’t you know who these people [members of the Obama administration] are?" the "Glenglarry Glen Ross" scribe asked. "What in their history do they find inconsistent with totalitarianism, or at best statism, or at worst Marxism? They want to take over the government. They don’t care how they do it. You can’t believe a word they say.”

Mamet, 65, has also tackled political subjects in his work, like the prescient presidential affair scandal in 1997's "Wag the Dog," for which he and co-writer Hilary Henkin received an Oscar nomination.

Alexa Davalos Goes Film Noir In TNT's 'Mob City'

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Alexa Davalos has handled her share of rough-and-tumble action in movies including "The Chronicles of Riddick," ''The Mist" and "Clash of the Titans."

But in TNT's new series "Mob City," the actress takes on the sophisticated nuances of film noir, in which come-hither glances and snappy patter are as key as the gunfire. Davalos plays Jasmine Fontaine, a woman trying to keep her footing in a post-World War II Los Angeles that's the dangerous turf of mobsters including Ben "Bugsy" Siegel (Ed Burns) and Mickey Cohen (Jeremy Luke), and the police waging war against them.

The drama series from writer-director Frank Darabont ("The Walking Dead," ''The Shawshank Redemption"), which debuts Dec. 4 for a three-week run, enthralled Davalos from the moment she read the first script.

It's evocative of such classic noir films as "The Big Sleep" and "Double Indemnity," and so is the Paris-born Davolos' performance, which recalls sultry, tough-dame turns by Lauren Bacall and Barbara Stanwyck. The 31-year-old actress discussed the genre and her character in a recent interview with The Associated Press.

____

AP: Did you have a passion for the noir genre before doing the series?

Davalos: My grandfather is an actor (Richard Davalos, 'East of Eden'), so I grew up watching all the films from that time period. I've always felt like I was born in the wrong era.

AP: How would you describe your character, Jasmine?

Davalos: She's a woman of that specific generation and all that entails. During the war, we know that women took on a lot of men's roles, and when the war ended and men came back, women were sent into a different space. I feel like Jasmine held on to that taste of individuality that she had.

AP: The period costumes are beautiful. Were they fun to wear?

Davalos: I miss it. I miss the garters, I miss the stockings, I miss every little element. I was given the choice, do you want to wear pantyhose, and I said no, no, no. I want to do the whole thing, top to bottom, the seamed stockings and all. Our costume designer, Gigi (Giovanna Ottobre-Melton), is an out-of-control wonder, and she tailor-made things for me, cut patterns from the 1940s and did it herself.

AP: What do you look for in a role, and did you worry about being typecast as a sci-fi or fantasy actor early on?

Davalos: We all do a few things that you kind of look back on and think, no one will remember that; that will be fine. It's being young and finding your way with everything. The older I get, for me it's about fear. If I read something and it scares the hell out of me, that's what I want to do. If it's a challenge and a massive risk and I'm going out on a limb ... those are the ones I want. And they are few and far between. I don't work very much because I'm very specific about what I want to do.

AP: What other projects have you done recently?

Davalos: I did a little film called 'Nina,' a small role. I played a French girl who was a nurse to Nina Simone. Zoe Saldana plays Nina.

AP: And what occupies you away from work?

Davalos: I'm such a hermit, I can't tell you. I love my garden (in Los Angeles). I spend a lot of time there. I travel. My heart really is in New York, in France. I go back as often as I can afford to. I read like a crazy person, I play the piano and I'm a photographer. I always say my photography keeps me sane. I spend a lot of time in the darkroom. It's a very solitary, quiet life when I'm not working.

AP: What music do you listen to?

Davalos: Sidney Bechet. I'm an old-timey gal. I have my granddad's record collection, which I treasure, and my father's — Rolling Stones to Sidney Bechet.
