'Happy Endings': Max And Penny Meet Valet From 'Ferris Bueller'

"Happy Endings" (Wed., 9:30 p.m. EST on ABC) found a way to work a fun cameo seamlessly into their crazy narrative this week in an all-new episode. While the rest of the ABC lineup went into repeat mode after the close of February's sweeps period, "Happy Endings" keeps chugging along. The network needs to get through its season in order to make room for "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" next month.

It's certainly a hint that "Happy Endings" is probably not as secure in the lineup as the rest of the Wednesday comedy block, despite heaps of critical acclaim. With a weaker lead-in from a "Modern Family" repeat this week, there's a good chance fewer viewers were on hand to share a fun moment of surprise with Max and Penny.

The pair got involved in a John Hughes themed scavenger hunt, but when they went to a parking garage, a familiar face greeted them at the valet booth. It was Richard Edson, who famously went for a joy ride in the car Ferris Bueller and Cameron "borrowed" from Cameron's father.

When Penny recognized Edson, he responded, "I didn't play the valet guy. I am a valet guy. I did that as a personal favor to John Hughes 'cause I used to park his car. Parking cars is my passion."

"Happy Endings" returns with a new episode next week, along with the entire ABC comedy lineup, Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. EST on ABC.
