Lana Del Rey may have the second most popular album in the country, but that doesn't mean she's above helping out her friends and crashing at an ex's apartment.
In a recent interview with The New York Times' T Magazine, Del Rey revealed that she's currently in a somewhat awkward living situation. "Staying with my ex-boyfriend. I live on his couch," she told the magazine.
It's not the only they're-just-like-us detail Del Rey shares in the interview. Though her manager had told the magazine that the interview would have to end at a certain time due to "big industry meeting," Del Rey freely confessed that she was actually off to babysit for a friend.
The interview is worth a read, especially in light of the media backlash obscuring the singer's actual work and personality. To hear the critics tell it, Del Rey is a mess whose management is frantically canceling her press appearances and tour. Given this interview and the eventual revelation that she never even had a tour planned, that seems to be a false characterization.
And after a stronger performance on Letterman and an even more well-received turn at an in-store at Amoeba Records in Los Angeles, she may be stepping into softer lighting.
Whether she's already on her way to cultural irrelevance or embarking on a long career, one thing's for certain: She's smiling again, with a glittery tooth to boot.
