It has been more than two years since Brittany Murphy's shocking death, but when it comes to her cause of death, the case has not been laid to rest. Murphy's father, Angelo Bertolotti, is suing the Los Angeles County Coroner's office, according to Radar Online, to gain access to hair samples in the department's possession.
Bertolotti is hoping to gain control of the samples so that he can perform his own testing, believing that the cornorer's office conclusion was inaccurate. The coroner ruled Murphy's death the result of pneumonia and anemia.
The 32-year-old "Uptown Girls" actress was found dead in her Hollywood Hills home on Dec. 20, 2009. Her body was discovered by husband Simon Monjack, who died just five months after his late wife -- Monjack's cause of death was also ruled the result of pneumonia and anemia.
But Murphy's father isn't the only one who is pursuing legal action to reopen his daughter's case. Just last month, Murphy's mother, Sharon Murphy, filed a suit against her former lawyers for legal malpractice, according to the UK's Daily Mail. Sharon was reportedly interested in naming the builders of the home in which Murphy died in a wrongful death suit, but her lawyers urged her to settle instead.
