Christina Applegate dropped by "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to chat about her NBC sitcom "Up All Night," now in it's sophomore run. With ratings flagging, the decision was made to shutter production for a few months in order to transition the single-camera comedy to the multi-camera format.
"We’re gonna have, like, an audience," Applegate said. "I’m very comfortable, ya know, in that arena." Applegate was a recent host on "Saturday Night Live" where she seemed to thrive in that live environment, feeding off of the energy from that studio audience. And, of course, there's her breakout performance long ago on a little multi-camera sitcom called "Married... With Children."
NBC picked up an additional three episodes on the season as well, meaning that when it comes back in the spring, viewers will have five episodes of the retooled retooled "Up All Night." The series has already seen some major changes this season; abandoning "The Ava Show," adding a brother, and switching up who was staying at home with the baby.
It's future on the network will likely hinge on the performance of those episodes, though I'm sure everybody would like to get some more eyeballs on the current single-camera run of "Up All Night" as well, on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC. "Jimmy Kimmel Live" airs weeknights at 12 a.m. ET on ABC.
